If your kids are like mine they love Mickey Mouse! Mine loves to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so this year her 2nd birthday is Mickey/Minnie Mouse themed. I will be posting more things I make for the party but for now I will start with the card I made last night. I absolutely love my Cricut and use it almost anytime I make something, especially cards or scrapbooking. The finished product measures about 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall.
So first get out your Cricut and cartridges and get to cutting.
1. I cut out the base of the card using the Mini Books cartridge. Select <TagEnvlp> at size 4 3/4.That was the biggest I could go cutting 2 per page. I used black cardstock. Then I followed the directions and folded the envelope part of it and secure it with the double sided adhesive squares or you could glue it whatever you prefer.
2. Next I cut out the Mickey head shape and bow using my Mickey Font cartridge. Select <mickeytg> at size 2 using black paper. Then using the same cartridge cut the bow using red polka dot paper. Select the ribbon/hat button then <minnie> in size 2.
3. Then I cut the cupcake wrapper using the Sweet Treats cartridge and red polka dot paper. Select <Cupck1-s> size 1 3/4.
4. Last I cut the rectangle out of yellow paper so the cupcake would standout and not be black on black using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. Select <rectangl> size 2 1/2.
5. First attach the yellow rectangle on the front of the envelope. Then I played with the mickey shape and cupcake wrapper to make it look just right. I attached the mickey head first, then the cupcake wrapper, and last glued the bow on top of the head.
You could always leave the bow off and use plain red paper and add 2 buttons to make it look like Mickey's pants.
6. I used my crop-a-dile for the eyelets. I used small yellow eyelets (3/16 size I think) on the top corners of the envelope so I could tie the bakers twine there and not tear the paper. I used the crop-a-dile to punch the holes and set the eyelet, but you can use whatever tools you have on hand. The tag already had a small hole but I wanted something bigger to make it easier to fit the ribbon through to tie it on. So next I used the bigger size eyelet for the tag and a black eyelet.
7. I typed up the invite on my computer using a free Disney font I found on Pinterest here http://pinterest.com/pin/6685099419631950/ . I tried to word it sounding like Mickey Moues Clubhouse as much as possible. I printed it out using size 10 font and cut it down to size. Attach that to tag centering it.
8. Tie the bakers twine to the evnelope through the eyelets. Make sure to leave some slack so it drapes.
9. Using the washi tape cut small pieces and fold in half over the twine then cut to make look like pennants. I put 5 on there, but you can do what you like. I used tape that my aunt gave me with mickey's gloves, shoes, pants, and Minnie's bows on them. Then on the tag I put a piece across the top and one across the bottom.
10. Last thing I did was tie small pieces of white, red, and yellow ribbon to the tag for the finishing touch.
There you have it an adorable invite. Make it your own and add your own special touches! Use whatever you have around you don't have to use what I did. Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for reading!
